Welcome to "On The Line". We hope you'll enjoy your stay. However long or short it may be.

The Name of the city is Fennwell. The city is nothing speacial, no major tourist attractions or anything like that. The people are trashy, the food is barely eddible, and the back alleys are downright dangerous. Fennwell doesn't get many visitors, or long-term citizens for that matter. At least, not of the human variety. The real inhabitants of Fennwell are the wild dog packs scatered throughout the city. Whether one would call the groups "packs" is a matter all it's own. It's far more suiting to call them "Dictatorships". Each pack is rules by an Alpha, who creates rules, alliances, and wars at their own will.

So that's the city in a nutshell. And now it's time to choose. Become a stray, free from all burdens of packlife. Or join a pack, and swear loyalty to whomever happens to be Alpha of the time.

So, welcome to the city of dogs.

Weather
It's hot and wet in Fennwell city. It rains almost daily, and most water sources are overflowing. Wading or swimming across the river is now a deathwish, as the current will sweep you away faster then you could fight your way back to shore.

Name: Abaddon

Age: Four

Gender: Male

Breed: Landseer Newfoundland

Desired Pack: Rutilus (Alpha), or rogue pack.

Appearance: The purity of the beast's mind is up for debate, but the purity of his coat is obvious. With a fluffy pearlescent exterior that will make you doubt if he is truly dangerous, this Newfoundland looks more so like a walking cloud, than a death sentence. He has even been compared to a panda bear, because of the black that interrupts his ivory coat; the pattern is almost the same, with a black hood and thick vertical stripes on his torso.

He isn't an ugly dog at all. In fact, on first glance one may describe him as saintly, good-natured, and dignified. Standing taller than the average Newfoundland (for he is a Landseer. And they have longer legs to begin with.), Abaddon moves with a peculiar grace that is befitting of royalty. He glides more than he walks, a seemingly impossible task for a massive canine like him, weighing in at one hundred and fifty pounds.

Every inch of this fine canine is eminent, from the tip of his blunt, block-shaped muzzle to the tip of his low hanging, bushy tail. And every inch of matted water-proof fur in between. It may look silky, but that fur provides an excellent defense against any wayward teeth or claws. It is thick, with an undercoat and an overcoat, and so dense that it would take a large amount of pressure just to reach the skin. Abaddon is a beast of a dog, a mirage that is pleasing to the eye-- until you meet him, but that is another story.

History: It wasn't his fault that the man was such a prick. Nor was it truly proven that he committed those murderous acts: the two dogs were dead, correct. But they had been dying inside from all of the abuse, just as he was. Abaddon was forced to run away from that dreadful place of chains, sticks, cages, torture.. All of it was a nightmare, just a bad nightmare. It was two years of pain, but now he was free. Free to find his way back to Newfoundland, if that was possible. But no, instead he finds himself lost within the inner sanctum of the city, the deplorable wasteland that few humans even lived within. If only he could take back those years of abuse, go back to the kennel, or even as far back as his birth home.

Personality: Due to past experience, Abaddon is not as naive as some may perceive him to be. The intelligence that is passed down to him alone, outweighs any stupidity he may have acquired through life. Indeed, his intelligence level is quite high: be it street smarts, or social code intellect. He knows how to smooth talk his way in and out of most situations, appealing to a dog's psyche on different levels. This charismatic approach to situations is a positive. However, at times he can be vain and self-assured, even appearing as a hypocritical bigoted asshole. On the outside he chooses to portray a calm, collected attitude as to not dissuade anyone from speaking to him. Allies are helpful, and pissing people off isn't.

However, along with that, he gets irritated very quickly. Anger issues have been beaten in to him, and if one were to anger him enough, he would attack. Mostly though, he prefers to be on the defensive or to make others fight for him. Don't get him wrong though, he is an adept fighter if the situation arises. He just has a small problem with blood lust, once his teeth find your neck.

IC:

OOC: The sample post is strange, its in a weird point of view. Kind of like a history/backstory lesson about Abaddon, while still remaining at his old home. If you don't like it, I can make a new post better suited as a true 'roleplaying post'.

IC:

Fog was rolling in once again. It was thick: one moment you could see to the end of your nose, then for miles. It was a disaster, this mess of white that intruded upon the human habitation. High powered beams of light tried to slice through the maddening substance, only to be blocked off.

Inside the dilapidated house, another 'white mess' was watching. With his massive black head in the window, paws planted on either side of the window's ledge, Abaddon watched the weather. It was fascinating to him. Never before had the youthful beast been so close to fog.

In comparison to the city streets outdoors, Abaddon's perch within the basement wasn't much better. Destroyed old furniture littered the cement floor, large bite marks showing that the couches and chairs were used as chew toys. While the ground was a mess, the walls were peeling and rotting away; the door to this room was nonexistent, having been plowed through by one of the hefty canines during one episode of violence.

"ABADDON! GET YOUR ASS DOWN FROM THERE NOW."
"But I..."
"I don't care about BUTS, your training is waiting. I don't want to be beaten for your laziness!"
The panda-like beast leveraged himself out of his precarious position, a large THUMP being heard as his body mass met the floor. He scuffed, not looking forward to this 'training'. In reality it was a human chaining him up, beating him senseless, and then tossing him in a ring with other dogs. Simply madness.

"You know.." The Landseer replied, as he left the doorless room and began moving down a cement staircase, "..The next time we fight, Axel, I'm going to win."
The dog Axel looked stern. Then the corners of his muzzle upturned, and the German Shepherd let out a booming laugh. "Yeah, right, like you could ever learn to fight like a real 'ringer, Abby."

"Don't call me that," A snarl, teeth unfurled and shining white against his black face. "My name is Abaddon, you jackass."

Life seemed peaceful. But they knew once the two of them reached the stair's end, the pain would start. Why didn't they run, hide? That just wasn't them. The beatings had transformed the two beasts into warriors, independent and strong canines that were pompous enough to believe, this was the way of life.
